An event as magical as the island it takes place on, the phenomenon of the 8 of light in the Catedral de Palma, La Seu, occurs only twice per year: on the 11th of November and on the 2nd of February.

It is a game between the rosettes (which are amongst the biggest original Gothic rose windows in Europe) and the alignment of the sun that causes the perfect reflection of a rose window under the other forming an eight of light and colour.

The light show collected by the Cathedral proves heliocentrism, which is governed by the movements of translation and rotation and the inclination of the earth's axis, which gives rise to the seasons and the sunrise and sunset.

This also happens because of the perfect orientation and construction of the temple towards the sunrise on December 21, and this is not a coincidence. The orientation is the basis of the phenomenon described and few cathedrals and churches are oriented like this, only those that want to point out the birth of the Sun on the winter solstice.
